Studio 23 offers a wide variety of classes for children and adults throughout the year.
Our youth program is designed to teach the fundamentals of art and the techniques in all mediums to all of our students from preschool through high school. We offer classes that include drawing, charcoal, water color, acrylic, and pastels. We also offer clay classes and other three dimensional mediums. Click here to see the kids art gallery.
Adult classes include acrylic, oil painting, watercolor, ceramics, drawing, and jewerly making. Our adult clay classes are great for the novice as well as the experienced. Weekend Workshop/Fathers Day Pin Hole Camera

Mom’s – Give Dad a break, or Dad’s-come spend a Saturday with your kid or kids in this action packed pinhole photography workshop. Explore the world of black & white photography with an empty cereal or shoebox, duck tape and your imagination. Learn how to turn a closet or family bathroom into an official dark room. Discover the science behind photography as you make and use the very first camera prototype. This workshop includes darkroom materials. Please bring an empty shoebox or cereal box and a sack lunch. We will supply the beverage.
Cost $40 members: $50 non-members. (One parent per child.) All materials included.

Parent/Child Clay Workshop

Project will include a decorative and functional bowl and an embossed tile. Four hour workshop consisting of 2 hours for building and 2 weeks later 2 hours of glazing. Two different times being offered;

Workshop For Paper Lovers

Join us in an adventure of creating the ultimate in paper embellishing. This class is designed for the beginner who has been afraid to explore the art beyond the craft of card making. Students need not bring anything other than their creativity. Students will learn layering techniques through stamping and embossing with color and texture. This class is designed as a TRY ME class. We know that whether you are a teen or an adult this process will definitely expand your creativity.
Cost: $25 and $5 materials members; $45 and $5 in materials non-members.

Beginning Calligraphy

Design Keepsake Jewelry

Make a keepsake pendant from a small photograph, an old stamp or a meaningful something or another. The keepsake pendant or charm will be 1”X1”. The item will be soldered between beveled glass. “Where Art Meets Science”

Polymer Clay Bead Making

Come learn the fundamentals of polymer clay. Students will be learning to make beads and all the tricks and short cuts. Bits and pieces of yarn, beads and found objects can also be added to these unique one of a kind pieces. Everyone will have several finished pieces of jewelry to take home.

Youth Animation Drawing,

Beginning July 14-18, 2008

This class will introduce students to the art of animation. Students will learn how to tell and draw a story through the optical illusion of traditional animation. Students will gain an understanding of the human anatomy and learn how to draw a proportional human form.

Youth Cartooning Class,

Students will enjoy creating crazy and goofy characters in this introduction to cartoon character design. Students will understand how to create cartoon characters through the use of geometric/organic shapes and basic facial proportion. They will also learn how line can help to create texture that will assist the students in their character development.

FUN Sculpture Method for Kids,

Begins July 28-August 1, 2008 or August 11-15, 2008
Time: 9:30am-Noon
This class will focus on an alternative sculpture method for the beginning artist. In this class, students will step into a snow globe as we carve a work of art from Styrofoam block. As the snow settles in the class, each student will begin to apply a frosting layer of concrete to their artwork. As the concrete sets up, students will be encouraged to compose a list of ways to decorate the final surface for their light weight home /garden sculpture. Parents are encouraged to sign up with their children.
Cost: $95 members $105 for non-members. (Includes $50 in material cost per student)

The JEM Program is an intensive art program for students who have a genuine interest in the visual arts. A broad selection of media and projects taught by trained area artists, offers the perfect opportunity for serious art students as well as those with a curiosity about the arts. This program is offered as an enhancement to the public and private school art programs, not a replacement.
JEM offers students a small classroom environment allowing for extra attention and instruction when needed. JEM offers a mixed media smorgasbord throughout the program including, drawing, acrylic painting, printmaking, textiles and 3-dimensional work. Other art subject areas are explored such as cartooning, fashion design and architecture. Instructors vary throughout the program, depending on their area of expertise and training, in order to give students accessibility to architects, photographers, cartoonist, painters, weavers, etc. Guest speakers and presenters also play a significant role in the JEM program.
The JEM program is divided into three components. Levels I, II and III are for students in Grades 4, 5 and 6, the Parent/Child component is for students in Grades 6, 7, and 8 and their parents or significant adult and Portfolio Review is for high school age students who plan to continue their education in the field of art. Each of the above components meets between six and nine weeks depending on the level and class, excluding the Portfolio Review which is ongoing throughout the school year. Each class session meets once a week for 1 ½ hours.
