At Studio 23 we’re always looking for ways to bring art into the community. One way we do this is to bring our art instruction to students who otherwise would not have art lessons. Because of the generous donation of MCACA, Saginaw Arts and Enrichment, and an anonymous donor we were able to bring art to Bush Elementary School.
For eight weeks our children’s instructors taught design concepts, art techniques, and art history to Kindergarten and First-Graders. The students learned many skills and had a great time.
When we asked our instructors, Autumn Reyes and Sue Zolton, what their favorite aspect of teaching is they both agreed it was seeing the moment a child comprehends an art concept for the first time. Sue added “The moment you see the light go on in their head… it’s just an amazing feeling. To know you did that.”
A big “thank you” goes out to our donors, we could not do this without you!
