Paint Your Neighborhood with Artist Ruth Howell

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood to take a Virtual Plein Air Painting Class with Artist/Instructor Ruth Howell.

Through a series of three sessions on Zoom, a virtual meeting site you can access in the comfort of your home or studio, Ruth will guide you through painting outdoor scenes in plein air. The opening virtual class will cover supplies, equipment and tips to paint outside. Ruth will announce the first assignment that each artist will complete during the week. The assignments will be discussed “conversation style” at the beginning of each session and then students will progress to the next topics listed below. Artists are encouraged to work in a painting medium such as watercolor, oil, acrylic or pen and ink.

This virtual class content will include:

Week 1. Plein Air Equipment and Materials Tutorial

Week 2. Color Mixing for Plein Air Artists

Week 3. Capturing the essence of your neighborhood in Plein Air.

Zoom class time and dates are 1:00 pm, Wednesdays: June 3, June 10 and June 17. $40 for Studio 23 members and $45 for non-members
