This exhibit showcases artwork created “en plein air,” outdoors from observation, at Plein Air painting events hosted by Studio 23 throughout 2022. We look forward to bringing some warm weather and sunshine into the gallery during the cold weeks of winter!

Black & White Affair Art Auction online bidding begins at noon on Saturday, November 27, 2021 and ends at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021. Local artists have donated their artwork and community merchants have donated gift cards and experiences. We encourage you to bid often and generously during this annual fundraiser.

50 Artists of the Great Lakes Bay Region 2021

This exhibit spotlights 50 artists from our region who are creating world-class artwork. Both professional and emerging artists are represented in our Rowley Gallery. The artwork is featured as well as a bio on the artists and a photo of their work on the Art Around the City Trail. “…and Other Ballads” Bonnie Lalley, Artist/Illustrator

Bonnie Lalley is a full-time artist/illustrator who lives on a smallholding in the American Midwest with a man, seven chickens, and a dog. She lives in a century-old farmhouse that was restored by her cabinetmaker husband, Tim Lalley, who also makes the frames for all of her work. Being a dedicated lover of nature, she find the flora and fauna surrounding the Lalley home to be a constant source of wonder and inspiration. Lalley’s exhibit is July 22–September 11, 2021.

Artist talk is July 24, 2021, 2–3 p.m.

Public Reception is July 30, 2021, 5–7 p.m.

Artist workshop is August 14, 2021, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Facebook Live: Artists’ Practices to Protect Our Environment

Join our curator, Valerie Allen, as she presents methods on safely disposing of art materials, creating artwork from recycled/reclaimed objects and calls for artists with environmental themes. This workshop will be presented on Facebook Live starting at 1:00pm, Saturday, May 8, 2021. This workshop will include the premier of Val’s recorded interview with artist, professor and environmental activist, John Sabraw of Ohio University. This event is free to the public.

Land To River Family and Friends Public Reception

Join us for an informal afternoon to celebrate our current Land To River exhibit…a collaboration with Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy and sponsored by Waste Management. This is a chance for family and friends of Studio 23 and SBLC and the public to view the exhibit and tour the gallery. Valerie Allen, our curator will be here to lead mini-tours of the artwork and several of the artists will be in attendance. This is a free event.
