Facebook Live MI Artists All-State Juried Exhibition Reception and Juror Talk

You are invited to join us on Studio 23/The Arts Center Facebook Page for a special Facebook Live event with the juror for MI Artists, Timothy Norris, our executive director, Tara Welch and our curator, Valerie Allen. We will tour the exhibit with Mr. Norris as well as introduce the new online gallery with images from the exhibit and present the awards for the exhibit.

MI Artists All-State Juried Exhibition 2020

This nine week exhibition showcases 81 artists from across the state of Michigan. Juror Timothy Norris, artist, professor and curator viewed over 278 artworks for this exhibit in the Rowley and Tabor Galleries of Studio 23. Exhibition hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.  Masks are required and ten people are allowed in the galleries at a time. Appointments can be made by emailing our curator, Valerie Allen at curator.studio23@gmail.com.  Exhibition dates are September 12 – November 14, 2020.

Painters and Potters

Our annual exhibition includes works of art from our students, member of The 100 Day Project and our faculty. We will have a Zoom online reception on July 9, 2020 from 5pm-6pm. The exhibit will be available online at our website and Facebook page. There will be several artworks on exhibit inside our galleries during the dates of July 9 – August 29, 2020 during regular business hours and with social distancing of no more that 10 people in the gallery at one time. Masks must be worn.

Understory: Artist Bonnie Lalley (Postponed)

During these challenging times you can find updates on Bonnie Lalley’s artwork on Studio 23 Facebook and Studio 23 Bay City Instagram. Artist/illustrator Bonnie Lalley’s exhibit, Understory, will include collages that reflect the artist’s love of flora and fauna. Bonnie lives in a 100-year-old home in thumb of Michigan that inspires the vintage palette of her colors and the patina’s achieved in the textures of her creations. There will be mixed media collages in many sizes ranging from large format to small. Several of the pieces will be presented in artisan-crafted hardwood frames made by Timothy Lalley. Generously sponsored by Chemical Bank.

You are invited to join us on the first day of spring for a reception for artist Bonnie Lalley. Her exhibit, Understory, will include collages that reflect the artist’s love of flora and fauna. Bonnie lives in a 100-year-old home in thumb of Michigan that inspires the vintage palette of her colors and the patina’s achieved in the textures of her creations. Closing Awards Tea for 50 Artists of the Great Lakes Bay Region exhibit

Please join us for tea and sweet treats as we say farewell to 50 Artists of the Great Lakes Bay. This reception will include the announcements of the $1000 Peoples Choice Award and two $250 runners-up awards. These awards are made possible by our active 50 Art Advocates donors. The awards will be presented at 6:00pm. The 50 Artists can retrieve their artwork after the awards are announced.
