This exhibit showcases artwork created “en plein air,” outdoors from observation, at Plein Air painting events hosted by Studio 23 throughout 2022. We look forward to bringing some warm weather and sunshine into the gallery during the cold weeks of winter!

The Art of B. B. Winslow

Studio 23 welcomes B. B. Winslow for this solo exhibition of colorful, mixed-media abstractions. Winslow’s composition juxtapose geometric motifs with atmospheric color fields, exploring his lifelong wonder about the infinity of the sky and his love of cloud forms.
Winslow earned the Master of Fine Arts (1988) in painting and art history from Pratt Institute, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Brooklyn, New York. He earned the Bachelor of Fine Arts (1980) in painting and biology from Central Michigan University, School of Fine Arts.
He recently retired after 29 years at the Midland Center for the Arts, Midland, Michigan, where he served as Director and Curator of the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art. His work has been exhibited in museums, art centers, and galleries across the Great Lakes states, while he has juried numerous exhibitions as well as speaking on various topics in contemporary art and art history.
Winslow is also a musician, singer/songwriter, having performed professionally since the 1970’s as a solo artist and with numerous bands.
