

Last week to enter the 50 Artists of the Great Lakes Bay Region 2021
50 Artists of the Great Lakes Bay Region + Art Around the City 2021 will showcase the works of 50 artists who live and/or work in the Michigan counties of Saginaw, Bay, Midland, Isabella, Gratiot, Clare, Gladwin, and Arenac. A panel of experts in the visual arts and community leaders from the region will select the artists. 50 original artworks will be displayed in the Rowley and Tabor Galleries at Studio 23/ The Arts Center from September 23 – November 13, 2021. In addition, 50 images from the selected artists will be installed and displayed as part of Art Around the City on the Bay City Riverwalk and downtown Bay City for two years.
There will a $1000 cash award for Best of Show selected by the panel of jurors as well as awards of merit and honorable mentions.
Open to all artists 18 years or older and live and/or work in the Michigan counties of Saginaw, Bay, Midland, Isabella, Gratiot, Clare, Gladwin, and Arenac. Works in all media are eligible. No giclees, reproductions, or copies of original artwork will be acepted. Digital files submitted must be non-altered representations of the actual works to be considered for exhibition. Artwork created within the last five years is eligible for submission. Artwork previously exhibited in juried exhibits at Studio 23 is not eligible. There are a limited number of entry fee scholarships available for this exhibit.

50 Artists of the Great Lakes Bay Region is encouraging artists from emerging to professional, living and/or working in the counties of Arenac, Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Midland, Saginaw, and 18 years of age or older to apply for the juried exhibition that will be from September 23 – November 13, 2021. This entry fee scholarship application is available for all eligible artists and the limited number of entry fee scholarship gifts will be chosen by merit and need.
This has been a tough year for artists and Studio 23 is being guided by our mission to support the Great Lakes Bay Region by providing a vibrant arts center dedicated to making the visual arts relevant and accessible to all. By offering these entry fee scholarships we are following one of our guiding values to help grow a supportive arts community committed to artistic integrity and inclusion.

MI Artists All-State Juried Exhibition 2020
Exhibition dates are September 12 – November 14, 2020.
This nine week exhibition showcases 81 artists from across the state of Michigan. Juror Timothy Norris, artist, professor and curator viewed over 278 artworks for this exhibit in the Rowley and Tabor Galleries of Studio 23. Exhibition hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. Exception is Saturday, November 14, the last day of the exhibit. That day the hours are 11:00 am – 1:00 pm for full viewing. Between the hours of 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm that day artists will be picking up their artwork.
Masks are required and ten people are allowed in the galleries at a time. If you have a group of 10 who would like to view the exhibit together then appointments can be made by emailing our curator, Valerie Allen at curator.studio23@gmail.com. These appointments can be made before or after our regular business hours at a time mutually agreed upon. Exhibition dates are September 12 – November 14, 2020.

72nd Michigan Water Color Society Juried Exhibition 2019
This is the 72nd Michigan Water Color Society Juried Exhibition 2019. Exhibition dates are June 8 – August 2, 2019. Chris Krupinski, signature member for the American Watercolor Society with Dolphin Fellow status as well signature member for National Watercolor Society is the juror for this statewide exhibition. She will be giving an artist lecture on Saturday June 8, 2019 from Noon until 1:00pm. Immediately following will be the opening reception that is open to the public and will include light refreshments. The reception will end at 4:00pm.
The exhibit features artwork by talented Michigan water media artists. The paintings include a variety of works that honor the rich tradition of watercolor and celebrates new innovations in the medium.
The exhibit is open during our regular gallery hours of Tuesday-Wednesday: 11am-5pm and Thursday-Saturday: 11am-7pm. We are closed Sunday and Monday with the exception of Sunday, June 9, 2019: 11am-3pm during the Riverside Art Show downtown and Sunday, July 21, 2019: 11am-3pm during the Tall Ships Celebration.
