Studio 23 Visiting Artist Program
Funded by the C Joanne Grabinski Visiting Artist Fund
The mission of the Studio 23 Visiting Artist Program, through selection of an annual visiting artist, is to enhance the experience of art for our community via exposure to a greater diversity of artists, art media, and artistic styles.
Applications for the Visiting Artist Program will be available in spring 2026, with a focus on fiber and/or textile arts.
Requirements of Awarded Artist
Create new art to show in an exhibition at Studio 23. Artwork for this exhibit will be created in the artist’s own studio space or facility.
Present one to two workshops for the community, hosted by Studio 23. The final topic/format of the workshop should be finalized through consultation between the artist, the curator of exhibits, and the curator of education.
Present an artist lecture/discussion or demonstration open to the community and hosted by Studio 23.
Visiting Artist Funding
The selected artist will receive an honorarium of $5,000 to cover all expenses of the artist specific and/or related to the Visiting Artist’s exhibit at Studio 23, including:
Creation and preparation of new artwork for the exhibit
Expenses for the required workshop
Expenses for the required lecture/discussion or demonstration
Artist’s incidental expenses, such as travel, lodging, meals

Applicants must submit the following:
Completed application form, with contact information
An artist portfolio in PDF format that includes 10 to 20 images of artwork
Artist statement
Résumé or CV
Synopsis of proposed community workshop
Workshops should be able to be completed in a single day/session. Proposals should include a time frame, materials to be used, the number of students able to be accommodated, and a tentative outline/agenda. Studio 23’s classroom can comfortably accommodate up to 25 students, dependent on materials and processes being used.
Artist biography
A description of 3 experiences, specifically workshops and/or demonstrations, you have presented as an artist.
A description of 3 talks/lectures about your artistic practice and/or artworks you have presented.
A description of how your artwork, your proposal for the exhibit, and your proposed workshop fit the mission statement of the Visiting Artist Program.
